There’s no doubt about it that you are a failure.
I mean how many times in your life have you set out to do something but at the end it was a bust?
A disaster.
It’s something none of us can avoid for sure. So I guess that means we might as well just pack our bags and give up on life. Right? WRONG.
Without a shadow of a doubt we’re guaranteed to fail at “most” of the things that we set out to accomplish.
That shouldn’t define us, here’s what is mean…
I’m going to give you a short list of people, past and present who are failures. Some you may recognize and some you may not but these are athletes who have failed miserably at what they set out to accomplish.
Over and over they failed. They failed themselves and their teammates. Here they are:
Babe Ruth
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Tom Brady
Michael Phelps
Usain Bolt
Everyone of these athletes has failed time and time again. The only difference is they didn’t let those failures define them.
They all came blazing back and each left their mark on their prospective sports.
This is because in reality we are all failures at one thing or another. At one time or another we have failed to complete some task that we set out to do.
Recently this year Isaiah Thomas of the Celtics here in Boston got news of his sisters death in a horrible car crash.
Isaiah Thomas said “when I found out I wanted to just give up and quit”. That’s not what he did though.
Just a day or two after his sisters death Isaiah played in the first Eastern Conference NBA playoff game of 2017.
Isiah and the Celtics went on to lose the first two games against the Washington Wizards. End of story right?
Wrong…
After that they won four straight to take the series and six games. Now that’s the spirit of a true winner. Someone who doesn’t give up because they fail, because times get tough or because things get adverse.
No. Winners face adversity head on and bounce back when they fail. We all are born to want greatness. It’s human nature.
Make sure you always realize that through out your whole life your failures will be more than your achievements. Yet you should not let that define you.
Be like Babe Ruth and let your home runs define you and not your strike outs.
